Dodgers News: Bobby Miller Scheduled For Return From Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to welcome Bobby Miller back from the 15-day injured list during their series against the Colorado Rockies next week.

Manager Dave Roberts said Miller is likely going to start Wednesday’s game at Coors Field. Miller allowed just two runs and pitched seven innings to earn a win last year in his only career start in the Rockies’ home ballpark.

Miller has been out since April 13 (retroactive to April 10) because of right shoulder inflammation. An MRI did not reveal any structural damage, which the Dodgers and Miller were encouraged by. That also was a factor in Miller believing he would make a quick return.

That didn’t come to pass, however, as the Dodgers will have gone more than two months without Miller. He is poised to be activated after completing a rehab assignment that comprised of four starts.

The most recent of which was Thursday, when Miller allowed five runs on six hits and issued three walks over 4.2 innings.

“The results weren’t good,” Roberts acknowledged when asked about the outing after the Dodgers dropped the series finale to the Texas Rangers. “I’m sure we’ll have a conversation but I expect him to make his next start with us.”

Miller made just three starts before going on the injured list because of his right shoulder trouble. He went 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in those outings with the Dodgers.

Bobby Miller returning to 6-man Dodgers rotation

Although the team has expressed mixed feelings toward a potential six-man starting rotation, Miller’s return is effectively going to amount to such an arrangement — at least temporarily.

Roberts said the Dodgers are not removing a starter in order to accommodate Miller being added to the rotation. Roberts answered, “At this moment in time,” when asked if the Dodgers would utilize a six-man rotation.

While there’s been a reluctance to commit to having an extra starter, the Dodgers also are determined to provide Yoshinobu Yamamoto with extra rest between each of his outings.
