The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Austin Barnes on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left big toe and recalled Hunter Feduccia from Triple-A Oklahoma City as part of a flurry of roster moves on Monday.

Notably, Tommy Edman and Max Muncy were both activated off the 60-day injured list. Edman is not only making his Dodgers debut but is playing for the first time in 2024 after having offseason right wrist surgery and spraining his ankle during the rehab process.

Muncy is back with the Dodgers after missing the past three months because of a right oblique strain.

Meanwhile, Feduccia is on the Dodgers roster for a second time this season. He first joined the team in late July when Freddie Freeman was put on the family emergency leave list.

Feduccia only appeared in one game for the Dodgers, entering as a pinch-hitter against the San Diego Padres on July 31. Feduccia was sent back to the Minors the next day in order to add Kevin Kiermaier to the roster.

While with Oklahoma City, the 27-year-old has hit .282/.415/.433 with 14 doubles, six home runs and 46 RBI over 73 games. This season is Feduccia’s second with the Dodgers’ top Minor League affiliate.

He was originally added to their 40-man roster after the 2023 season in order to protect from potentially being selected in the Rule 5 Draft. Given the nature of Barnes’ injury, Feduccia figures to receive somewhat of an extended opportunity as the Dodgers look to manage Will Smith’s workload despite the National League West division race.

Austin Barnes’ injury

Barnes sustained his toe fracture after being hit by a foul ball in the third inning of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Barnes continued playing and finished 0-for-3 with a walk in the Dodgers’ 2-1 win.

Barnes has fallen into a slump after productive months of May and July. Overall this season he’s batting .241/.318/.284 with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI in 44 games.
