On Jan. 1, 2014, former Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully served as the Grandal Marshal of the Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif.

The honor was a big one for Scully, as he had a chance to ride down Colorado Boulevard on New Year’s Day, hearing the cheers and thank you’s of not only Dodger fans, but fans from all over the country who were on hand for the prestigious event.

Scully decided to retire as the broadcaster of the Dodgers in 2016, after 66 seasons. He was sent out in style as Charlie Culberson hit a walk-off home run to clinch the National League West in the final game Scully called at Dodger Stadium.

This past year Scully’s named was enshrined in Dodgers history forever, as he was inducted into their Ring of Honor, becoming the first non-player to be honored in that fashion.

Scully wasn’t the most recent Dodger to participate in the Rose Parade though, as Kiké Hernandez and his father, Enrique Sr., rode on the City of Hope float at this year’s event.

Hernandez has been involved with the City of Hope since 2016, as his father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, although he is now in remission. The 2018 float was themed “Transforming Lives with Hope.”

Former Dodgers general manager Fred Claire was also on the City of Hope float this year.

The Dodgers began the celebration of their 50th anniversary in L.A. in 2008 by participating in the 119th annual Tournament of Roses Parade.

Their float featured current and former players, as well as legendary broadcaster Vin Scully and longtime organist Nancy Bea Hefley.
