The sixth annual Justin Turner Golf Classic is taking place Monday, February 7, at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The event returns one year after being put on pause due the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

With large gatherings not a safe environment last January, Justin and Kourtney Turner made the decision to postpone their foundation’s signature event. Like in years past, the 2022 golf tournament has been filled to capacity.

“We’re thrilled that our most important fundraiser is back and will kick off the week of the Big Game,” Turner said in a statement.

“Los Angeles’ best will be on display and our kickoff party and golf classic we’re sure will be a highlight. We’re grateful for the opportunity to welcome our supporters and friends for a memorable day in support of what’s dearest to us, our charitable work in the city we love.”

Golfers scheduled to play include Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts, Will Smith and Chris Taylor. Scott Kazmir, Mike Moustakas, Albert Pujols, Corey Seager, Andre Ethier, Shawn Green and Eric Karros are also among those participating.

The day includes a hole-in-one contest on a par-3 hole for a $50,000 cash prize and prizes for the winning teams at the conclusion of the tournament.

Golfers are receiving a VIP gift bag featuring an Adidas duffel bag, Adidas golf cleats, Adidas hat, Klean Kanteen JTF mug, custom JTF Baseballism hat, Sick Sticks custom JTF golf club, JTF Easton hat, JTF Easton polo, JTF Dugout Mugs bottle opener, JTF JUNK Brands headband, Sun Air Jets swag item and more.

Proceeds from the golf tournament — which will feature a silent auction — benefit children and families that have been affected by life altering illnesses, as well to assist veterans and families around the Los Angeles area. The Turners regularly work with the Los Angeles Dream Center and local hospitals through their Justin Turner Foundation.

“After what’s been a challenging couple years for many people, we’re blessed to be able to host our signature event and raise funds to continue JTF’s mission,” Kourtney said. “We’ve been overwhelmed with the support of our friends and our sponsors. Our work with JTF wouldn’t be possible without them and we’re thankful to kick off a year of great work in the community.”

Turner: Seager leaving Dodgers for Rangers is ‘bittersweet’

Seager was among the free agents to sign a new contract prior to MLB lockout beginning in December. The 10-year, $325 million contract with the Texas Rangers ended his time with the Dodgers that began with being selected 18th overall in the 2012 MLB Draft.

“Obviously watching him develop and turn into the player that he’s become was pretty special for me playing for six years to the right of him,” Justin Turner recently told DodgerBlue.com when asked about Seager joining the Rangers.

“You know it’s a possibility in free agency, but you don’t really think it’s going to happen until it happens. It’s bittersweet. It sucks that I’ve probably played my last game with him, and at the same time you’re excited for him to take advantage of the free agency market and set himself up for the rest of his life.

“I think bittersweet is probably the perfect way to put it.”
