Fresh off a walk-off win in extra innings, the Los Angeles Dodgers once again host the Atlanta Braves with a chance to win the first series meeting of 2024 between the two National League favorites.
Tyler Glasnow gets the start for the Dodgers looking to continue his Cy Young-caliber start to the season. The right-hander has posted a 2.72 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 43 innings while tallying 53 strikeouts.
He’s coming off another strong start where he went six innings, giving up just one against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Overall, Glasnow has made seven starts for the Dodgers, allowing three runs or fewer in six of them, and two or fewer in five of them. He’s also pitched at least five innings in all his starts, and six or more in five of them.
The Braves counter with Bryce Elder, who despite his name, is just 24-years-old and in his second full season at the MLB level.
Elder has had a strong start to the year, posting a 1.50 ERA across 12 innings, but he’s struck out just six hitters and owns a 1.33 WHIP. Last season, he pitched to a 3.81 ERA in 31 starts.
The Dodgers have had found some success against Elder previously, with Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernández and Austin Barnes all batting .400 or better against him.
They’re also running out the same lineup for a second consecutive day with no surprises and features all their primary starters against right-handed pitchers. The Braves are also going with the same lineup from the series opener.
