As the Los Angeles Dodgers front office is working to improve their roster in effort of repeating as World Series champions, also taking place are new Dodger Stadium renovations that should be completed before domestic Opening Day of the 2025 season.
The project’s scope includes both clubhouses, the Dodgers’ weight room and other areas of level one. That’s had a considerable impact on the field, as the surface cannot be used at present time due to substantial excavation and heavy equipment present.
That has proven to be an obstacle for the Dodgers in terms of player development and offseason workouts as having access to Dodger Stadium’s facilities is something players have been able to utilize in the past.
“It’s been a huge advantage for us in years past, having our Minor League players here and big league players train here, our chefs making breakfast and lunch, obviously the weather being perfect,” president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told DodgerBlue.com.
“It’s been a challenge this winter. Making the most of it. We feel like it will be worth it in the end, but certainly a challenging offseason.”
The Dodgers’ willingness to invest in their facilities is a big reason why the team is so successful at player development and recruiting free agents. This includes their Spring Training complex in Arizona, practice facilities and Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers have also employed Tyrone Hall as the team’s manager of performance nutrition since March 2016 to help players meet their nutritional needs.
Unlike the NFL Players Association, the MLB Players Association does not vote on Team Report Cards, so there isn’t quantifiable data to show how the Dodgers compare against the rest of MLB in that regard. However, players within the organization consistently have high praise for how the Dodgers organization invests in its players.
