DodgerHeads: Implications Of A 60-Game MLB Season, Concern For The Dodgers & More

After a long winding road of disagreements and failed negotiations, Major League Baseball and the Players Association appear to be on the verge of finalizing details for a 2020 regular season.

The two sides have not yet crossed the finish line but the expectation is that could come as soon as Tuesday. With MLB commissioner due to impose what will likely be a 60-game season, “DodgerHeads” host Jeff Spiegel and DodgerBlue.com Matthew Moreno reflected on the maddening twists and turns, and looked at implications for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In a point raised by Spiegel, the Dodgers were only in first place of the National League once since 2016 at the 60-game mark — last year when they were 41-19. Spiegel and Moreno both agree a shorter season doesn’t work in the Dodgers’ favor.

But even with that, the team is clearly the class of the NL West and one of the best in baseball. Whether that talent — or how much of it — is seen on the field, can also be debated.

MLB and the MLBPA will need to agree on health and safety protocols, but a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak could wreak havoc on the sport. MLB and its players would appear to be more susceptible to the possibility by virtue of not playing in a bubble setting.

As alluded to in the beginning of the episode, DodgerBlue.com is soon going to announce a giveaway contest for items from Baseballism’s ‘#MoonOnAMission’ collection. The products were designed and inspired by Justin and Kourtney Turner’s 3-year-old miniature-pinscher, Moonshine.

“It was a proud dog mom moment for me,” Kourtney told DodgerBlue.com. “Although I thought I would get a Baseballism line before she did, but it’s cool.”

Baseballism is making a $10 donation to the Justin Turner Foundation with each purchase from the limited-edition line.
