The Los Angeles Dodgers’ losing streak reached four games after dropping the series opener against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Monday night.

The Dodgers were swept by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday at Dodger Stadium, marking just their second sweep of the season.

Before the game, the Dodgers made a series of roster moves following a busy trade deadline. The Dodgers placed Dalton Rushing on the injured list, optioned Emmet Sheehan, designated Wyatt Mills for assignment, added Tarik Skubal to their active roster, and called up Chuckie Robinson and Jonathan Hernández.

The Dodgers now look to end their losing streak on Tuesday as Tarik Skubal makes his team debut.

Cubs 10, Dodgers 5: key takeaways

Justin Wrobleski struggles again

Justin Wrobleski was looking to bounce back from a poor start against the Seattle Mariners on July 28, but he turned in an even worse start against the Cubs.

Wrobleski allowed seven runs on seven hits over just 4.1 innings while striking out four and walking three. It was also his second straight start of allowing four home runs in an outing. He has surrendered eight long balls in his last 10.1 innings of work.

The southpaw gave up a two-run homer just two batters in, which cut the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2. He then allowed another two-run homer in the second inning that put the Cubs up 4-3.

He allowed another two-run blast in the third inning, giving the Cubs a 6-3 lead. The final home run he allowed came in the fifth inning, but this time it was just a solo shot to put the Cubs up 7-4. That ended his day as Edgardo Henriquez took over.

Henriquez got the Dodgers out of that inning, but stayed in the game and walked three straight hitters to load the bases. Tanner Scott took over and was unable to strand the runners as three more runs scored. All three were charged to Henriquez.

Dodgers grab early lead, then slow down

The Dodgers looked rejuvenated at the start of the game as they opened with two singles and then a home run from Tommy Edman to put them up 3-0, just five pitches into the game.

After that, the Dodgers didn’t score again or have much success on offense until the fourth. Kyle Tucker walked, Teoscar Hernández singled, and then Eliezer Alfonzo singled to put the Dodgers behind by just two runs.

In the sixth inning, Hernández crushed a home run out of Dodger Stadium while the Dodgers trailed 7-4. That one run pulled them closer, but it followed a baserunning mistake from Tucker, who was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double. That was one of two outs the Dodgers produced on the bases as Shohei Ohtani was picked off earlier in the game.
