The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Wyatt Mills and optioned Paul Gervase to Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of their series finale against the Atlanta Braves. To make room for Mills on the 40-man roster, Edwin Díaz was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
It comes as no surprise that Díaz was moved to the 60-day IL as he is expected to miss around three months after having right elbow surgery. This does not change his expected timeline.
Gervase was called up on May 8 as the corresponding move for Tyler Glasnow landing on the injured list.
The right-hander ended up pitching three innings for the Dodgers in their 7-2 loss against the Braves on Saturday. He threw 50 pitches to finish off the game while allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
That was Gervase’s first appearance of the season, and he pitched in only one game for the Dodgers in 2025, allowing one run over two innings.
The 25-year-old has pitched in seven games at the Major League level in his career, posting a 3.97 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.
He was 2-0 with one save, a 3.65 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across nine appearances for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets before getting called up.
Dodgers call up Wyatt Mills
Mills joins the Dodgers for the first time after posting a 3.26 ERA across 19.1 innings with 28 strikeouts for the Comets.
He previously signed a Minor League deal with the Dodgers in August 2025 and spent Spring Training with the team before being a March roster cut.
The right-hander has MLB experience, last pitching for the Kansas City Royals in 2022 when he appeared in 19 games with a 4.79 ERA. He made his debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2021.
Over his MLB career, Mills owns a 6.21 ERA across 42 innings. He has been much more effective in the Minor Leagues with a 3.22 ERA in 259.2 innings with 322 strikeouts.
Mills was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of the University of Gonzaga.
The 31-year-old gives the Dodgers a fresh bullpen arm after relying on their relief group Saturday when they had to cover six innings after Blake Snell’s short outing.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed a roster move for a new reliever was forthcoming.
