Dodgers Roster: Chris Stratton Re-Signed & Activated, Ryan Loutos Designated For Assignment

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued with their bullpen shuffling on Friday by re-signing Chris Stratton and adding him to their active roster. Ryan Loutos was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Loutos joined the organization on May 1 when he was acquired in a trade from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations. Loutos was recalled May 16 but got optioned back to the Minors the following day so Clayton Kershaw could be activated off the 60-day injured list.

Loutos then returned to the Dodgers roster just over two weeks later.

The right-hander only pitched in two games during his multiple stints with the team. Loutos gave up multiple runs in both appearances, and last was on the mound for the Dodgers on June 4. That night saw him pitch two innings and allow three runs in the Dodgers’ 6-1 loss to the New York Mets.

Loutos has been part of the Dodgers’ search for bullpen help as they’ve navigated a slew of injuries. Over recent weeks the team has also acquired the likes of Stratton, Alexis Díaz, Will Klein and José Ureña as well.

More relief should be on the way this weekend as the Dodgers expect to activate Kirby Yates and Michael Kopech.

Dodgers re-sign Chris Stratton

Stratton is back with the organization after clearing waivers upon being designated for assignment. Stratton then rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City in favor of becoming a free agent.

His time on the open market lasted all of one day before re-signing with the Dodgers. Stratton initially signed with the Dodgers on May 25. He was DFA’d on June 2 in order to create room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Klein, who was acquired in a trade that sent Joe Jacques to the Seattle Mariners.

Stratton allowed one run in the eighth inning of his Dodgers debut that came during an 18-2 rout of the New York Yankees. His only other appearance with L.A. thus far came June 1, when Stratton again gave up just one run but pitched two innings.
