Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was the honorary captain for the Monday Night Football game between the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, adding onto what’s been a busy World Series celebration.
Roberts was on hand at SoFi Stadium just two days removed from being celebrated at the Rose Bowl by UCLA during their crosstown rivalry game against USC.
Part of Roberts’ pregame duties at the Chargers’ game included rallying the crowd before the player captains met at midfield for the coin toss.

Roberts was honored to be in attendance and remarked how great it was to reunite with some of his players and longtime friends, including Hall of Fame Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson:
“Oh my goodness. It feels good to be a world champion. Here to support the Chargers, city of Los Angeles, get to catch up with an old friend of mine, LaDainian Tomlinson, Hall of Famer. To bring the World Series trophy here for a football game, on the gridiron, pretty amazing.”
The Chargers took a 10-0 lead but weren’t able to hold off the Ravens, who pulled ahead before halftime and hung on for a 30-23 comeback win.

Roberts, a San Diego native, has long been a fan of the Chargers but did previously express disappointment over their move to Los Angeles.
Monday’s game also was a much more pleasant experience for Roberts after he was booed while wearing a Chargers jersey when they played the then-Oakland Raiders at StubHub Center (now Dignity Health Sports Park) in 2018.
Dave Roberts reunited with Jack Flaherty
Also in attendance on Monday night was Jack Flaherty, who has been busy this offseason with media and public appearances.
Flaherty and Roberts shared an incredible embrace in a private suite and posed together for a photo with the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series trophy.

Flaherty is among the group of current Dodgers free agents. He’s expressed a desire to re-sign with the Dodgers but they appear to first be focusing on Juan Soto and the top starting pitchers available.
