Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Booed While Attending Chargers-Raiders Game

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ first two seasons at the helm have exceeded all expectations. In his first year, he won the National League West and took the Dodgers to the NL Championship Series while being named the league’s Manager of the Year.

Roberts followed that up in 2017 with another division title, and although they fell to the Houston Astros in seven games, he took the Dodgers to their first World Series since 1988.

He was once again named a finalist for Manager of the Year, although Arizona Diamondbacks manager Terry Lovullo wound up coming away with the award.

Despite all he has achieved in his first two seasons with the Dodgers, Roberts is not immune to getting booed in the city of Los Angeles.

According to Arash Markazi of ESPN, Oakland Raiders fans at the StubHub Center let Roberts hear it while he was wearing a Los Angeles Chargers jersey during an in-game interview

Roberts, who is a San Diego-area native, grew up rooting for the Chargers. His ties appear to have withstood their move from San Diego to Los Angeles last offseason.

While many fans may not have agreed with some of the decisions Roberts made during the World Series, that was not the reason he drew the boos. But rather, the boos were indicative of how many Raiders fans were in attendance.

Despite the Rams and Chargers both recently moving to L.A., the Raiders fanbase still is the strongest in the city as the Raiders called Los Angeles home from 1982-1994. More than half of the StubHub Center was painted in silver and black on Sunday afternoon.

Justin Turner didn’t experience such treatment when he was on hand to set off the cannon prior to a Chargers game earlier this season.
