Miguel Rojas Injury: Offseason Surgery Likely Needed For Left Adductor Tear

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West with a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres last week, but it came at a cost as Miguel Rojas suffered what initially appeared to be a groin injury.

However, an MRI revealed that Rojas sustained a left adductor tear, which caused him to miss the final four games of the regular season. The veteran shortstop said he has been dealing with the injury for three weeks.

Rojas expressed confidence that he will be able to manage the discomfort and play for the Dodgers in the National League Division Series.

Rojas enjoyed a resurgent season for the Dodgers as he hit .283/.337/.410 with 21 doubles, six home runs and 36 RBI while becoming the Dodgers’ everyday shortstop in June.

Rojas was pressed into starting duty after Mookie Betts suffered a fractured left hand, but the Dodgers still prioritized providing him with sufficient off days in effort to keep him healthy.

That was largely a success, although Rojas spent time on the 10-day injured list in July because of a right forearm strain and dealt with a mild left hamstring issue one month before the latest adductor injury.

Miguel Rojas ‘determined’ for postseason

Rojas said he is doing everything possible to be ready to play at the start of the postseason.

“It’s not a secret. To play shortstop at this time is really hard to stay healthy and stay on the field, but I’m doing everything that I can,” he began.

“I just know one way to play the game, and it’s all-out every single day. I’ve been told by my coaches not to try to steal bases and not to run every ground ball out, because they need me out there. But that’s what I do.

“I try to play the game with passion. That’s what I bring to the table every single day and that’s what Miggy Ro is all about. I’m going to be working hard to get back and be ready for that first game of the playoffs.”
