The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Mike Flynn to a Minor League contract for the 2024 season that presumably includes an invitation to Spring Training.

Flynn was assigned to Double-A Tulsa following the signing.

The Southern California native was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of the University of Arizona in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB Draft.

Flynn made his professional debut later that year, going 0-3 with a 5.94 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 9.2 strikeouts per nine in five appearances for the Pirates’ Single-A West Virginia affiliate.

The right-hander then posted a combined 10.38 ERA and 1.85 WHIP in just 4.1 innings of work between West Virgina and the Pirates’ Rookie-level affiliate during the 2019 season.

After a three-year layoff, Flynn joined the Seattle Mariners organization for the 2022 season. He went 3-1 with a 7.50 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 36 innings pitched over 21 games (four starts) for High-A Everett.

The 27-year-old followed that by going 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 13.7 strikeouts per nine in 36 appearances between Everett and Double-A Arkansas this past season.

Now part of the Dodgers organization, Flynn figures to begin the 2024 season with Double-A, where he will look to build on his most successful showing as a professional to date.

Mike Flynn among Dodgers’ Minor League signings

Flynn is the latest player to sign a Minor League contract with the Dodgers this offseason. The team has also added Daniel Hudson, Nabil Crismatt, Eduardo Salazar, Jose Cabrera, Austin Beck, Travis Swaggerty and Lolo Sanchez on Minor League deals.

Of that group, Hudson and Crismatt have the most MLB experience, while Beck and Swaggerty were former top prospects the Dodgers may hope to unlock the potential of. As long as Hudson is healthy, he should see time with the Dodgers this season while the rest figure to be depth with a lower shot of reahing the MLB level.
