Cody Bellinger continued to swing a hot bat as he belted two home runs in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 10-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. It was Bellinger’s first multi-home run game since Aug. 11, 2021, and the 14th of his career, which is the most by any player in Dodgers franchise history through their age-26 season.
After striking out against Sean Manaea in his first at-bat, Bellinger lined a solo home run off the left-hander to straightaway center field in the fourth inning to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0.
Then in his next plate appearance, Bellinger clubbed a three-run homer to break the game open. “After my first at-bat I was seeing it well,” Bellinger said after the game. “I just swung at some balls.
“My next at-bat, I just really focused in on the zone a little bit and tried to get a pitch to drive. Just tried to put a good swing on it.”

Bellinger has been one of the Dodgers’ hottest hitters to begin the 2022 season, batting .273/.333/.582 with three doubles, one triple, four home runs and eight RBI in 60 plate appearances (15 games).
Bellinger was named National League Player of the Week for games played April 18-24.
Bellinger didn’t ‘stress’ over poor results in Spring Training
Despite hitting a weak .139/.162/.139 with no extra-base hits and 18 strikeouts in 13 Cactus League games, Bellinger felt it was only a matter of time before he would turn a corner. “I mean, a little bit,” he recently said when asked if there’s improved feeling at the plate compared to Spring Training.
“I didn’t want to stress in spring. The spring is what Spring Training is. It’s good to get out here, get the flow of the season, get a routine and just continue playing baseball every day.”
