The Los Angeles Dodgers hit three home runs but lost 8-6 to the Chicago White Sox and remained winless in 2022 Spring Training games thus far.

Career Minor League Tanner Banks had five strikeouts and allowed just one baserunner (Gavin Lux walk) over two no-hit innings. That allowed the White Sox to take a 3-0 lead on Micker Adolfo’s three-run home run against Andre Jackson in the bottom of the second.

L.A. responded with their own power display in the third inning, as Jake Lamb hit a solo homer and Austin Barnes tie the game with a two-run shot to the opposite field. Lamb and Barnes gave the Dodgers five players with at least one home run this spring.

Stefen Romero’s RBI base hit gave L.A. a lead in the fourth, only for the White Sox to answer back with three in the bottom half of the inning. Zach McKinstry pulled L.A. within a run with an RBI bloop single in the sixth.

Alex Vesia nearly managed to pitch through some traffic in the seventh inning, only for the wind to wreak havoc on a pop-up with two outs. The ball wound up dropping and it allowed the White Sox to score two runs.

That loomed large as Andy Burns led off the eighth with a solo home run that would’ve tied the game. That gave Burns two home runs this spring and tied him for the team lead with Jason Martin, who is garnering consideration for a potential spot on the Dodgers bench come Opening Day.

A Miguel Vargas double in the ninth inning brought the tying run to the plate with two outs but Tomas Telis was unable to keep the rally alive.

Dodgers see returns of Muncy, Ferguson

Max Muncy went 0-for-1 with one walk and a run scored in his first game since dislocating his left elbow on the final day of the 2021 regular season. Muncy additionally tore the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his elbow but avoided surgery and is pleased with his progress.

Caleb Ferguson worked a scoreless inning his first time back on the mound since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2020. Ferguson is not expected to be on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster as the team remains cautious with the recovery.
