FTX, the official cryptocurrency exchange of MLB, announced that it will donate $10,000 for every “moonblast” throughout the postseason to the charity of the player who hits the longest blast. A “moonblast” is considered a home run that travels at least 425 feet.

To help get the word out, FTX sent its mascot, “Lou Nar, the Moon Man,” to the National League Wild Card Game at Dodger Stadium. He caused quite the stir on social media when fans spotted him sitting behind home plate as the Los Angeles Dodgers played host to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Moon is a popular term within the cryptocurrency space as investors use it when they believe the price of a particular coin will skyrocket.

FTX announced a long-term and global partnership with MLB earlier this year as the company looks to increase its exposure in the sports world.

As part of the deal, FTX will have the right to use highlights of players in content creation. The agreement also gives FTX worldwide marketing rights related to MLB.

Fans can expect to see FTX brand promotion around nationally televised MLB games, MLB.com, MLB Network, MLB.TV and social media platforms. Umpires have worn a patch with the FTX logo on their uniform since the All-Star Game.

Will Moon Man return to future games?

After watching the Dodgers defeat the Cardinals, Moon Man next showed up at Oracle Park for the NL Division Series. However, he was not seated in as visible of an area.
