The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Tony Gonsolin off the 10-day injured list and recalled Andre Jackson prior to the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Neftalí Féliz was designated for assignment and Mitch White was optioned as the corresponding roster moves.

Gonsolin returns to make a start Thursday at Busch Stadium, which pushed Julio Urias, Walker Buehler and Max Scherzer each back a day for extra rest before their next turns in the rotation.

Gonsolin had been sidelined since July 31 due to right shoulder inflammation. He previously missed the first 60 games of the season with the same issue.

After being shut down for a stretch, Gonsolin began a throwing program and advanced to making a rehab start for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. He allowed just one run and collected one strikeout over 2.1 innings.

“The expected thing is he’ll slot into that starter role and pitch every fifth or sixth day,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

Jackson figures to follow Gonsolin on Thursday, but Roberts said a definitive plan was not set. Jackson is 0-1 with a 1.07 ERA in two games and last pitched for L.A. on Aug. 27.

Féliz appeared in back-to-back games against the Cardinals on Tuesday and Wednesday, throwing a combined two scoreless innings. This is a second time Féliz has been DFA’d by the Dodgers, and he cleared waivers after the first instance two weeks ago.

He’s 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA in 16 games (one start) for OKC.

Dodgers leaning on White

Similar to Jackson, the Dodgers have relied on White to be available for a spot start or out of the bullpen. They decided against utilizing an opener on Wednesday night, and White wound up struggling in the first inning.

“That first inning I was a little out of rhythm,” he said. “Spun a few sliders out bad and they took advantage.”
