Dodgers News: In Wake Of Justin Turner Injury, Dave Roberts Will Keep Chris Taylor, Corey Seager In Top Two Lineup Spots

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a tough task in replacing Justin Turner’s production on both sides of the ball while he recovers from a fractured left wrist.

Turner nonetheless believes the club’s excellent depth will allow them to succeed, where the likes of Austin Barnes, Logan Forsythe, Kiké Hernandez and Chase Utley are now slated for increased workloads.

In the wake of Tunrer’s injury, the lineup will have consequently have a new look. The first two spots won’t be affected, however, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Chris Taylor and Corey Seager will remain in their usual spots at the top of the batting order, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

“That’s going to stay,” Roberts said of Taylor-Seager batting first and second. “I really love Chris at the top of the order. I love his at-bat quality so to know he’s going to get four or five at-bats every night, I like that. He gets on base. He can slug. And I think Corey, to have him at the top of the order or somewhere near to get that extra at-bat, I think we like that as well.

Needless to say, losing a vital part of the offense in Turner won’t be easy to manage, so it’s understandable that Roberts wants to create some stability at the top.

With Taylor and Seager staying put, Roberts previously revealed that Cody Bellinger will likely hit third in Turner’s absence.

That means the middle of the Dodgers lineup will be rounded out by the likes of Yasmani Grandal, Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig, who all figure to move up a spot as part of the domino effect.
