The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots meeting on Sunday in Super Bowl LII is noteworthy for a variety of reasons, many of which not need to be explained. An underlying aspect, however, is once the game goes final, it’s that much closer to Spring Training beginning.
For the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitchers and catchers are due to report to Camelback Ranch by Tuesday, Feb 13. Position players are expected in camp five days later, and the team will hold their first full-squad workout on Monday, Feb. 19.
Where Chase Utley will be is not yet known, as he remains a free agent. But if tea leaves are any indication, the veteran infielder will be back with the Dodgers.
What is clearly known is where Utley’s allegiance lies for Super Bowl LII. He joined actors Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson, husband and wife who star in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” for a ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ video that Utley posted on his Instagram account:
In one episode of the hit series, Utley was the subject of McElhenney’s character — “Mac” — desperately attempting to meet the former Phillies star.
The Eagles are in the Super Bowl for a third time in franchise history. They lost both prior appearances, including once to the Patriots, but won NFL championships before the game came to be known as the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots are seeking an unprecedented sixth Super Bowl title. A win on Sunday would give the Patriots their second dynasty to win three Lombardi Trophies in four years.
