Dodgers News: Rob Segedin Reinstated From 60-Day Disabled List

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Rob Segedin off the 60-day disabled list prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox. Segedin took the place of Chris Hatcher on the active roster, as the right-hander was traded to the Oakland Athletics.

Segedin’s return again gives the Dodgers a four-man bench. He missed 102 games due to a right great toe strain and right wrist surgery. Segedin’s stint on the 10-day disabled list began in April because of the toe issue.

A bone spur was then removed from his wrist in May. Segedin went 11-for-33 with five doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI over a combined 10 rehab games with the Arizona League Dodgers and Triple-A Oklahoma City.

“It’s good to have him back. He battled through a lot of things with the hand, the toe. To have him back in the mix, I know he’s excited,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

“He played well for us last year. The ability to play the corner outfield spots, play some third and some first, be a right-handed bat off the bench who can slug and drive in a run, is a good thing for us.”

Segedin reached base safely in 16 of 17 games with Oklahoma City. He batted .328/.357/.493 with five doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI with the affiliate. Segedin has only appeared in two games with the Dodgers, going 1-for-4.
