Dodgers Video: Padres Pay Tribute To Legendary Broadcaster Vin Scully

With the 2016 season being Vin Scully’s last in the broadcast booth, the Los Angeles Dodgers, opposing players, and fans, have shown their appreciation throughout the year. Scully’s career is now down to its final few games as he’ll join the Dodgers in San Francisco.

During the Dodgers’ last homestand of the regular season, they held Vin Scully Weekend to honor the Hall of Fame broadcaster. Los Angeles capped off Scully’s career at Dodger Stadium in dramatic fashion, clinching the National League West on a walk-off home run.

While the Colorado Rockies were in town for that stretch of games, manager Walt Weiss and multiple players paid Scully a visit in his booth.

That became a customary tradition for opposing teams this season, with the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox among those to say their final goodbye.

The San Diego Padres sent a representative to Dodger Stadium over the weekend to present Scully with a surfboard, and the club played a tribute video at Petco Park on Wednesday, via the Padres’ Twitter account:

Scully was recently honored by three California Democrats who introduced a resolution in his name. He was also honored this past Friday at Dodger Stadium as actor Kevin Costner was among the special guests to speak on Vin Scully Appreciation Day.

Scully is not the only iconic voice retiring after this season, as Dick Enburg is calling the final Padres home game of his career on Thursday night.
