Along with reportedly looking to address their starting rotation, the Los Angeles Dodgers are said to be in the market for an outfielder prior to Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline. Cincinnati Reds right fielder Jay Bruce was the first outfielder Los Angeles was tied to.
It’s since expanded to include Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies and Brett Garnder of the New York Yankees. However, it’s unclear if either the Rockies or Yankees are truly willing to move their respective player.
Although Howie Kendrick and Justin Turner have bolstered the Dodgers’ lineup, the club could benefit from an influx of production in the outfield.
Collectively, Dodgers outfielders rank 26th in the Majors with a .301 wOBA and 22nd with an 89 wRC+. The group’s .307 on-base percentage is good for 25th overall, and their .386 slugging is 26th.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, another player of interest for the Dodgers in Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick but talks have not progressed:
The Dodgers also have shown interest in Reddick, but at this point those discussions also appear to have little traction.
Reddick has overcome missing more than one month with a fractured hand to have a productive season. In 65 games he’s batting .300/.375/.443 with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 27 RBIs, a .348 wOBA and 120 wRC+.
Reddick has developed a reputation for playing above-average defense in right field with a strong arm. Though, metrically he’s only played to a -2.7 UZR. It’s reported Reddick has also drawn interest from the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians.
