The Los Angeles Dodgers began Interleague play with a quick two-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, settling for a split after taking the first game. On Friday, Los Angeles starts a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays in the second leg of their five-game road trip.
Kenta Maeda and Marcus Stroman duel in the opener, Clayton Kershaw and R.A. Dickey are the probables for Saturday, and Ross Stripling and Marco Estrada are slated to start the series finale on Mother’s Day.
A quirk in the Dodgers’ schedule provided them with an off day before and after their series with the Rays. The Dodgers boarded a flight bound for north of the border after their loss on Wednesday, giving the club a full day off in Toronto on Thursday.
Adrian Gonzalez and Yasiel Puig took advantage by going fishing on Lake Ontario, with both making big catches. Gonzalez shared a video on his Twitter account of the salmon he caught:
