Chris Taylor: ‘Feels Good’ Helping Dodgers Win Games In Return From Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers received some reinforcements last week as Chris Taylor was activated off the 10-day injured list. Prior to that point he last appeared in a game on June 21 before being removed because of right knee soreness that was a result of a bone bruise.

After going through a recovery period at Camelback Ranch, Taylor began a rehab assignment with the Arizona Complex League Dodgers and joined Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for one game. He went a combined 2-for-5 with one home run, one RBI and one walk in two games.

Taylor has continued swinging a hot bat since returning to the Dodgers as he delivered a go-ahead grand slam in their 6-4 comeback win over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

Taylor is happy to be back with the Dodgers and helping them win games, via SportsNet LA:

“It’s fun. I missed it. It’s never fun being on the IL. You go to Arizona, it’s 120 degrees, it’s not fun down there. It’s a grind. So it feels good to be back and helping us win games to get to where we want to be.”

Taylor’s grand slam off Orioles reliever Bryan Baker was his second of the season and the Dodgers’ ninth overall, which tied the 2000 team for the third-most in franchise history. The 2004 Dodgers had 10 grand slams and the record belongs to the 2021 club that hit 11 in one season.

Of the Dodgers’ nine grand slams this year, all of them have come in the sixth inning or later, and five have tied the game or given L.A. a lead.

Taylor has two grand slams this year.

Although he isn’t putting up All-Star numbers, Taylor has still enjoyed a bounce-back season from last year, particularly in the power department. The 32-year-old enters play Tuesday batting .214/.279/.474 with seven doubles, 12 home runs and 30 RBI in 190 plate appearances (62 games).

Taylor has appeared at five different positions this season, seeing most of his time at shortstop.
