The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Low-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes announced their coaching staff for the 2023 season, led by manager John Shoemaker for the third consecutive year.
Originally selected by the Dodgers in the 35th round of the 1977 MLB Draft, Shoemaker returns to lead the Quakes after delivering a 135-117 record at the helm across the last two seasons, including a division-best 67-53 record in 2021.
Shoemaker has a long history of coaching within the organization that dates all the way back to 1981 when his first experience began with the Vero Beach Dodgers of the then-Floria State League.
Joining Shoemaker as returning coaches for 2023 are hitting coach Dylan Nasiatka and pitching coach Ramon Troncoso. In the case of Nasiatka, his return comes after one season with the High-A Great Lakes Loons.
Returning for his third season with Rancho Cucamonga, Troncoso, a 40-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, delivered five years of play in the Majors, including four with the Dodgers that saw him post a 3.92 ERA between 2008 and 2011.
Joining Troncoso as a pitching coach as well is newcomer Sean Coyne. The 2023 season will mark his second with the organization after spending last year at the Arizona Complex League Dodgers.
After also spending last year with the ACL Dodgers, eight-year MLB veteran Ronny Paulino joins the Quakes coaching staff as a bench coach. Paulino had a respectable .272 batting average across his Major League tenure and collected 508 total hits and 5.3 wins against replacement.
Rounding out the 2023 Quakes coaching staff is athletic trainer Akinori Maeda and video/development coach Ben Castigna.

The Quakes are celebrating their 30th anniversary this season which begins on Thursday, April 6. Their first game is against the Inland Empire 66ers, the Low-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
