The Los Angeles Dodgers squandered an early lead but came away with a 5-4 walk-off victory against the Cincinnati Reds behind Corey Seager’s walk-off double. With the win, the Dodgers kept pace with the National League West-leading Colorado Rockies.

The Dodgers struck first on a Seager double that Scooter Gennett misplayed and allowed to carry over his head. Chase Utley, who led off with a single, scored from first base on the play. Adrian Gonzalez’s sacrifice fly plated Seager.

Cody Bellinger extended his team lead with a 13th home run this season before Asher Wojciechowski could work his way out of the inning. Doubles in the fifth inning from Yasiel Puig and Utley extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-1.

Alex Wood recorded two outs in the third inning before allowing a run on a Jose Peraza base hit to center field. That snapped his consecutive scoreless innings streak at 27.1. Wood began the game by retiring six in a row, including three by strike out.

He worked around a leadoff single in the fourth and one-out base hit in the fifth. After a hit by pitch to start the sixth, Chris Taylor made a running catch a few feet in front of the fence in left-center field to rob Joey Votto of an extra-base hit.

Wood later struck out Scott Schebler and exited with two on and two outs. Josh Fields promptly surrendered a three-run, game-tying home run to Devin Mesoraco. Gennett nearly broke the tie but his fly ball was caught by Taylor at the wall to end the inning.

Wood ultimately was charged with three runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of a no-decision. He threw 87 pitches and recorded seven strikeouts.

Utley’s two-out ground rule double in the bottom of the seventh led to Seager being intentionally walked. Michael Lorenzen escaped the jam by inducing Taylor into a groundout.

Pedro Baez stranded a pair of baserunners after allowing back-to-back singles in the eighth. He was aided by Puig, who twice prevented Votto from taking an extra base.

First, he cut off a ball in the gap and made a strong throw into second base. Puig then got to a broken-bat single and kept Votto from going first to third base. Drew Storen allowed singles to Puig and pinch-hitter Justin Turner, putting the winning run in scoring position with one out.

Tony Cingrani struck out pinch-hitter Franklin Gutierrez before surrendering a walk-off double to Seager on the next pitch.
