Dodgers Put Tyler Glasnow On Injured List, Paul Gervase Recalled

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Paul Gervase from Triple-A Oklahoma City and put Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day injured list before Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

Glasnow lands on the IL with an official designation of low back spasms. He pitched just one inning this past Wednesday before being removed from his start because of a back spasm that started while warming up for the second frame.

“It was just on a warm-up pitch; it gave out. I tried to throw another one and it was too hard to bend over. But it’s not too serious,” Glasnow said after the Dodgers’ win. “I’ve had this a few times. It’s just one of those things where it’s thrown out and once it feels better, it feels better. It shouldn’t be too long.”

The right-hander expressed hope, if not optimism, that he would avoid the injured list. However, such a decision would depend on how he felt in the ensuing days and on a subsequent MRI upon the Dodgers’ return from their road trip.

Glasnow experienced a similar issue last season that led to being scratched from a start against the Baltimore Orioles. He was back on the mound three days later, firing seven innings. But in 2024, Glasnow spent three weeks on the injured list due to lower back tightness.

Tyler Glasnow injury creates opportunity for Paul Gervase

Gervase is on the active Dodgers roster for the first time this season. He’s gone 2-0 with one save, a 3.65 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across nine appearances for the Comets so far in 2026.

Gervase made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays last season before being sent to the Dodgers as part of a three-team trade. He pitched just once for L.A. last year, throwing two innings and allowing one run.

The 25-year-old figures to be in line for another brief stint with the Dodgers as Gervase will likely get optioned back to Oklahoma City on Saturday as the corresponding move to Blake Snell being activated off the injured list. Snell initially was scheduled to make a fourth rehab start, but instead is slated for his season debut.

That decision is presumably tied to Glasnow’s back issue, which has forced him to the IL.
