The Los Angeles Dodgers are dealing with a few injuries on the position player side with Chris Taylor and David Peralta each day-to-day.

Both Taylor and Peralta left the game early on Friday due to respective leg injuries. For Taylor, he is dealing with right knee pain and received a cortisone shot that will keep him out through the remainder of the series. Peralta has a hamstring strain and an issue in his lower glute.

Taylor’s injury was originally the more concerning of the two, but testing showed it’s a bone bruise that includes some cartilage wear and tear in his right knee. The injury is not expected to require a stint on the 10-day injured list, but nevertheless, the Dodgers added Yonny Hernández to their taxi squad in case there is a change.

Hernández previously has been up with the Dodgers once this season, going hitless in his lone at-bat. The 25-year-old was acquired from the Oakland Athletics this past offseason.

With Triple-A Oklahoma City, Hernández has posted a strong .265/.407/.392 line with 11 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 25 RBI and 40 runs scored. Hernández is primarily an infielder, spending most of his time at shortstop and third base, but he has also played second base, left field and center field in his career.

Michael Grove remains with Dodgers

The Dodgers optioned Michael Grove as the corresponding move when Emmet Sheehan was added to the active roster, he has remained with the team on the taxi squad as well.

“He’s going to hang around,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “We’re going to see what we have to do. The pitching is in flux right now, so Michael is in a holding pattern.”

The Dodgers added Bryan Hudson to their roster on Saturday, but they may decide to make another move soon, which would likely be Grove. Bullpen usage has been a recent issue and they are still dealing with multiple injuries in their rotation.

“We made the move for Bryan Hudson, so that’s one right there,” Roberts said when asked about the Dodgers bullpen. “But we’re just kind of keeping an eye on some guys.”

Grove is 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across seven games (six starts) for L.A. this season.
