After playing seven games to start the 2016 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers play their first contest at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday with the opener of a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It’s the first meeting between the two National League West teams, with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m. PT. Time Warner Cable SportsNet LA will broadcast the game, however a live stream is also available courtesy of Yahoo! Sports.
The concept is a part of their ‘MLB Free Game of the Day’ program, which provides fans with another means of watching baseball. Yahoo will stream one game each day, with the Dodgers getting the nod three times during April.
The first Dodgers is Tuesday’s contest, featuring Kenta Maeda takings the hill for his second start, and being opposed by Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin. Los Angeles will next appear on Yahoo’s stream April 15 when they host the San Francisco Giants.
Probables for that game are Madison Bumgarner and Clayton Kershaw, in what would be a rematch of their toe-to-toe meeting on Saturday. The Dodgers came away with an extra-innings, and Kershaw pitched eight innings to Bumgarner’s six.
However, Bumgarner, already the only pitcher to hit a home run off Kershaw, slugged the second of his career against the Dodgers’ ace. The Dodgers’ third and final game in April that will be streamed is an April 20 road contest against the Atlanta Braves.
Time Warner Cable made valiant efforts to reach distribution deals for SportsNet LA, but were turned away no matter their proposal. Given the continued resistance from DirecTV and other pay-TV providers, Yahoo! Sports’ service is providing Dodger fans with an alternative option.
Streams of the Dodgers games and other MLB contests Yahoo! is providing coverage of, are available at sports.yahoo.com/videos.
