The Toronto Blue Jays tied up the 2025 World Series at two games each with a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4, and in the process, they ensured a Game 6 back at the Rogers Centre.
For the Dodges, it was a similar story as the bullpen struggled and the offense was mostly non-existent. They had minimal opportunities with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-6 in their chances, with a sacrifice fly, and leaving eight on base.
Their lone run came in the second inning after Max Muncy walked, Tommy Edman singled and Kiké Hernández hit the fly ball to bring home Muncy. But after that, it was all Blue Jays for the rest of the game.
Ohtani mostly held the Blue Jays in check, but allowed a two-run homer to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after a single in the third inning that put Toronto up 2-1. He then kept the Jays off the board until things went south quickly in the seventh.
Ohtani allowed a leadoff single and then a double before being replaced by Anthony Banda. Andrés Giménez greeted him with an RBI single, and Ty France followed with ground out that brought home another run to make it 4-1.
After an intentional walk to Guerrero, Blake Treinen took over and promptly allowed a long single to Bo Bichette that made it 5-1. Another single by Addison Barger increased the lead to 6-1 before Treinen got out of the inning.
Ohtani’s night ended with 6+ innings pitched, allowing four runs on six hits with six strikeouts to one walk. Banda was credited for allowing two runs in 0.2 innings, while Treinen was not charged with any in 0.1 innings.
Shane Bieber gave the Blue Jays 5.1 innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Mason Fluharty finished off the sixth inning without a baserunner, and then Chris Bassitt pitched two more scoreless innings with just one hit allowed and two strikeouts.
Jack Dreyer was the last reliever to pitch for the Dodgers, tossing two scoreless innings.
The Dodgers put together a small rally in the bottom of the ninth, but still fell short. Teoscar Hernández walked and Max Muncy doubled before Edman grounded out to bring in a run.
World Series becomes best-of-three
With the World Series tied at 2-2, the Dodgers and Blue Jays are now essentially in a best-of-three series with both teams looking for two wins.
There will be one more game at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday before the series returns to Toronto on Friday, Oct. 31 for Game 6. If necessary, Game 7 would be Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Rogers Centre.
