The Los Angeles Dodgers returned to Dodger Stadium after a nine-game road trip and hosted their annual Los Angeles Kings night with Drew Doughty and Thousand Oaks native Trevor Moore on hand to watch the matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Although Doughty has been a lifelong Blue Jays fan after growing up in Canada, he has also continuously supported the Dodgers during his time with the Kings.
Selected by the Kings second overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Doughty quickly emerged as a star and became a franchise legend after playing an integral role in winning two Stanley Cup championships, which has helped give him deep ties to the city.
The defenceman was selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and fans gave him chants of “Dreeeew,” as is the case often heard for Kings home games.

While Doughty was throwing out the pitch, “Hollywood Nights,” by Bob Seger, the song played after a Kings’ home victory, was also played over the speakers.
As for Moore, who grew up in Southern California, the day was surely special for him as he has been a Dodgers fan — and a Kings fan — throughout his life.
Acquired by the Kings in a 2020 trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Moore has become a fan-favorite due to his personality and play on the ice, and an unofficial full title of “Thousand Oaks native Trevor Moore” has become a running joke. He was rewarded by the Kings with a five-year, $21 million contract extension nearly one year ago.
The winger was chosen to say the ceremonial “It’s Time For Dodger Baseball” before the game, and he also took part in an on-field interview with Dodger Stadium hosts. As part of the interview, Moore joked Doughty would throw the pitch in the dirt, which did not end up being the case, but did make its way into the left-handed batter’s box.
The Kings begin their season on Oct. 11, 2023, meaning some of their games will likely overlap with Dodgers postseason play, giving L.A. fans a lot to root for during the month.
Trevor Moore shared favorite Dodger Dog
Earlier this year during Dodgers Night at Crypto.com Arena, Moore was among the Kings players to share their perfect Dodger Dog toppings.
Moore said he adds “a little ketchup” even thought it is “probably a little frowned upon,” which incited a bit of a Twitter debate with opponents and proponents making their case in the comments.
Kings captain Anze Kopitar also made sure to add onions, which he joked is especially important “if you go with your buddies.”
