Among the multiple moves the Los Angeles Dodgers made at the 2023 MLB trade deadline was to acquire Amed Rosario from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for Noah Syndergaard.

It accomplished multiple goals as the Dodgers added a right-handed hitter to their group of position players and brought an end to the failed Syndergaard experiment. He continued to struggle with the Guardians and ultimately designated Syndergaard for assignment one month after the trade.

Meanwhile, Rosario enjoyed early success with the Dodgers as he also worked to grown comfortable playing second base. However, he cooled off and was not included on their playoff roster for the National League Division Series.

Now Rosario is among the group of Dodgers free agents, and his early offseason work included a visit to Driveline Baseball:

Rosasrio batted .256/.301/.408 with six doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI, .306 wOBA and 93 wRC+ in 48 games with the Dodgers. That largely was in line with how Rosario fared in 94 games for the Guardians, as he hit .265/.306/.369 with 19 doubles, three home runs, 40 RBI, .294 wOBA and 97 wRC+.

If the Dodgers do not re-sign Rosario, his final game with the team was a 1-for-4 effort on the last day of the regular season.

“It was a tough one,” manager Dave Roberts explained of selecting Kolten Wong instead of Rosario for the postseason roster. “It was more driven by the fact that we have Kiké (Hernández) and C.T. (Chris Taylor) that are versatile players from the right side and having Amed, without a left-handed starter going for them, little redundant.

“And so to have a left-handed bat in Kolten, who you could have come out for some hitting situations, to come out of it with him on the bench we felt was a lot of value.”

Amed Rosario adds to Dodgers history with Driveline

Rosario joined a growing list of Dodgers players to recently visit Driveline, as this year’s group included Mookie Betts, Gavin Lux, Max Muncy and Chris Taylor.

In the past, Kenley Jansen and Clayton Kershaw made their respective trips to the data-driven training facility.
