With the Los Angeles Dodgers facing the Philadelphia Phillies this week, it saw the return of Walker Buehler to Dodger Stadium for the first time since the 2024 World Series parade.
After previously signing with the Boston Red Sox during the offseason, Buehler was released and ended up joining the Phillies on a Minor League deal just before September. Buehler was then called up to the Phillies on Sept. 12, and he has been with them since.
Buehler did not pitch against the Dodgers this week but returning to the stadium he called home for seven years nevertheless evoked some sentimental feelings.
“Obviously surreal, and kind of all the emotions that go with it,” Buehler told DodgerBlue.com. “But I think it was pretty cool. Obviously, what I’ve gone through in the last month or so, and for it to line up here at the end was pretty cool.”
With that, Buehler was also on the visitor side of the stadium for the first time, and he was also part of the celebration as the Phillies clinched the National League East division title while at Dodger Stadium.
“I just didn’t know where the f— I was going, to be honest with you,” Buehler said. “Then we were doing the celebration all that stuff, so definitely a cool week, and something I wasn’t really prepared for.”
Buehler spent the three days catching up with former teammates and people in the Dodgers’ organization, and said it’s “been a cool week.”
“Awesome,” Buehler added about seeing everyone again. “Obviously, Clayton (Kershaw) and everything that goes along with that, and seeing him, and seeing all the staff, and a lot of new players and a lot of guys that I played a lot of games with, so yeah, special place for me.”
Walker Buehler looks back at World Series parade
The last time Buehler was at Dodger Stadium, he was celebrating a championship and had some memorable moments during that. But for Buehler, there isn’t much he can look back on from that time.
“You guys saw how I was acting, I don’t remember a ton,” Buehler said. “But I think I made an impact on the parade, and so that’s what I was looking to do.”
