Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Make-A-Wish Kids To One-Day Contracts

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed seven children to one-day contracts with the club while also providing them with a special experience at Dodger Stadium.

The contracts were endorsed by Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes and signed by each kid, who became the newest member of the roster.

After the contracts were signed, the Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts held a press conference with their families in attendance to introduce each kid as a new member of their organization in front of gathered media.

“This is certainly a highlight for me,” Roberts said at the press conference before introducing the players. “You guys are making my dreams come true. This is fantastic.”

In addition, the kids each had their own locker and custom jersey at the stadium. They also got the opportunity to take the field to warm up with and meet some of the current players on the roster, while also taking batting practice and fielding.

Among the players out of the field to greet their new teammates were Teoscar Hernández, Evan Phillips and a few other relievers.

After warming up on the field, the kids and their families ventured into the Dodgers dugout for some more photos.

Before their press conference began, Mookie Betts was in the Dodgers interview room to meet with all his new teammates while signing autographs and taking pictures with them.

The kids also had the chance to meet and hang out with Clayton Kershaw earlier in the day.

After the pregame events, the kids and their families were given tickets to see the Dodgers face off against the Los Angels Angels. Although the Dodgers lost the game, it was surely a special day for each of them.

Dodgers partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Fanatics to make the day possible.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation unofficially began in 1980, and the following year they granted its first official wish. In 1983, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America was incorporated.

Since then, they have granted hundreds of thousands of wishes to children with critical illnesses across the world.
