Updated 2022 World Series Schedule After Game 3 Postponement

Game 3 between the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros was postponed Halloween night due to inclement weather, resulting in a new 2022 World Series schedule.

The Astros and Phillies will be back at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night to play Game 3. The development marked a fourth time rain has impacted a Game 3 of the World Series in Philadelphia.

However, this instance the first time that’s resulted in the game getting postponed. There were rain delays during the World Series when it was in Philadelphia in 1993, 2008 and 2009.

The ripple effect from the rainout at Citizens Bank Park includes potential Games 6 and 7 both being pushed back a day in Houston.

Doing so allowed for MLB to keep an originally scheduled travel day before the Fall Classic potentially returned to Minute Maid Park, albeit that now would be on Friday instead.

The latest World Series game ever played was November 4, which occurred in 2001 and 2009. If the 2022 World Series goes to a Game 6, that would be on Nov. 5. Game 7 would take place Nov. 6.

All of that could be a moot point if the Phillies remain undefeated at home.

With an unexpected off day, the Phillies changed their pitching plans and now will have Ranger Suárez start Game 3 instead of Noah Syndergaard. Aaron Nola is slated to start Game 4, and Syndergaard would pitch the following day if not needed as a relief pitcher in either of the next two games.
