Tyler Glasnow Returning To Dodgers Rotation For Finale Of Brewers Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers have largely pieced together their starting rotation for much of this season but have welcomed back Emmet Sheehan and Clayton Kershaw, and now Tyler Glasnow is poised to come off the injured list as well.

Glasnow has been out since April 28 because of right shoulder inflammation that cut his start to just one inning the day prior. He then was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 31 amid confusion over his injury and a stagnant recovery process.

That made June 27 the earliest date Glasnow was going to be eligible to return. While he wasn’t back with the Dodgers at that point, it did coincidentally mark the date of Glasnow’s second start on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Glasnow made a third start for the Comets and now is poised to be activated to pitch for the Dodgers on Wednesday in the series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers, per Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

Roberts confirmed Monday that right-hander Tyler Glasnow will return from the IL and start Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Heading into the start of their road trip that leads into the All-Star break, the Dodgers had Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May as listed probables for the Brewers series.

With Glasnow returning on Wednesday, it’s pushing May back to starting Friday in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants. That in turn could lead to Shohei Ohtani not taking the mound before the All-Star break as Sheehan and Yamamoto are lined up to pitch the final two games at Oracle Park.

Though, the Dodgers conceivably could utilize Ohtani as their starter on Saturday and have Sheehan pitch bulk innings out of the bullpen. Particularly with Ben Casparius being shifted back into a bullpen role and Justin Wrobleski getting optioned off the roster when Julian Fernández had his contract selected from Oklahoma City.

Dodgers need Tyler Glasnow to remain healthy, pitch well

Glasnow is poised to return two days after Yamamoto retired just two batters in the shortest start of his career. Glasnow’s 2025 season didn’t go particularly well before the right shoulder trouble, as he also dealt with cramping in a start.

Glasnow meeting expectations would go a long way in helping stabilize a Dodgers rotation that is still without Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki.
