Tony Gonsolin made a trip to Crypto.com Arena to represent the Los Angeles Dodgers as the Los Angeles Kings hosted their annual promotional night to celebrate the MLB club they share the City of Angels with.

Gonsolin participated in the ceremonial puck drop before the Kings faced the New Jersey Devils in a rematch of the 2011-12 Stanley Cup Finals that saw the Kings win their first championship in club history.

The right-hander attending the game and participating in the puck drop continued a run of Dodgers’ players and organizational members being honored every season by the hockey club.

Last year during Dodgers Night, the Kings had Jaime Jarrín participate in the ceremonial puck drop before they faced off against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

Previously, Chase Utley represented the Dodgers in 2021. Prior to that, Steve Yeager and Bill Russell dropped the puck during Dodgers Night in 2019, and Kiké Hernandez held the honor in 2018.

The Kings entered the game on a hot streak, going 7-2-1 in their previous 10 games, along with a three-game winning streak, but they could not keep it going against the Devils as they dropped the game 4-2. The Kings are currently tied for second in the Pacific Division with a 25-15-6 record (56 points).

The Devils have also been playing well as of late, going 6-3-2 in their last 10 before their matchup against the Kings, with a winning streak of three games. They rank second in the Metropolitan Division 28-12-3 (59 points).

Dodgers night game recap

Kevin Fiala put the Kings up early with a power play goal, but the devils answered on a power play goal of their own from Tomas Tatar before taking the lead on a goal from Erik Haula.

The Kings then tied the game on another power play goal, this time from Anze Kopitar, but the Devils took the lead back with two goals from Nikita Okhotiuk and Ryan Graves.

The Devils then added one more goal late in the third period from Jesper Bratt to pick up a 5-2 victory.
