The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently in the midst of a tight National League West race, sitting two games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks and one game behind the Colorado Rockies with a little over one month left in the regular season.

Monday’s off day provided Dodgers players and staff a chance to take their focus away from baseball for a day though as they held their annual fantasy football draft.

The league has been dominated by general manager Farhan Zaidi in recent years. He has won the championship each of the last three seasons, which is fitting considering what his day job with the Dodgers is.

Zaidi goes for a fourth straight championship this season, and his team is looking quite formidable, which Dodgers starter Alex Wood shared when he posted the results of the draft:

It was the Dodgers’ clubhouse staff that held the No. 1 overall pick, and they decided to go with another Los Angeles athlete in Rams running back Todd Gurley.

Gurley saw Wood’s tweet of the draft results and took notice of himself being the top pick:

Wood just missed out on drafting his fellow Georgia alum, taking Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson with the second overall pick, and he let Gurley know that he was not happy about it:

One thing that is also noticeable when looking at the draft results is that both of the team’s trade deadline acquisitions, Manny Machado and Brian Dozier, are in the league.

That not only shows that they are fitting in with their new teammates, but also that they will keep in touch with them throughout the course of the NFL season, which will coincide with their impending free agencies.
