The Los Angeles Dodgers finished the Cactus League portion of their 2025 Spring Training schedule with a 10-4 blowout win against the Cleveland Guardians.
Roki Sasaki made his first Cactus League start of the year and built on an impressive relief appearance from last week. The right-hander was efficient through four scoreless innings as he held the Guardians to just one hit.
That came on a check-swing that produced a flare single into right field to lead off the second inning. Sasaki did walk two batters and also struck out a pair.
The expectation remains Sasaki’s next time pitching is going to be by starting the second game of the Tokyo Series on March 19.
His outing on Tuesday was aided by the Dodgers scoring six runs in the first inning. That began on Tommy Edman’s third home run of the spring, which tied him with Freddie Freeman for the team lead.
Max Muncy’s two-run double extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0, and walks by Shohei Ohtani and Edman each brought in a run.
Guardians pitchers walked 13 batters on the day and collectively struggled in the early stages of the game. It wasn’t until the fourth inning that a Dodgers hitter did not draw at least one walk.
Andy Pages’ two-run single further broke the game open in the second inning, Kiké Hernández added an RBI base hit in the third, and Chris Newell’s sacrifice fly put the Dodgers up 10-0.
The Guardians got on the board against Landon Knack in the sixth inning and also scored two runs off Blake Treinen in the seventh.
When do Dodgers leave to Tokyo?
Having played their last Cactus League game of the year, the Dodgers now are scheduled to depart for Tokyo on Wednesday, March 12.
The Tokyo Series is being played from March 18-19.
