The Los Angeles Dodgers opened Cactus League play during 2026 Spring Training with a 15-2 win against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Dodgers scored 10 of their runs in the first three innings, including six in the second inning to put the game out of reach early.
Shohei Ohtani picked up the first hit of the season with a leadoff infield single down the third base line, and he ended up scoring on a two-out single from Hyeseong Kim. The third run of the first inning was scored on a wild pitch.
Zach Ehrhard singled to start the second inning, and Teoscar Hernández drove him in with his second single of the afternoon, making it 4-0. Andy Pages tripled home another run, and then Santiago Espinal singled him home, giving the Dodgers a 6-0 lead.
Kim hit a line drive single to the outfield that made it 7-0, and Ehrhard doubled home two more runs, putting the Dodgers up 9-0.
They scored their 10th run on a sacrifice fly from Dalton Rushing after back-to-back doubles from Hernández and Pages.
Their offense finally calmed down until adding one more in the sixth inning after a double from Ryan Fitzgerald and a single from Nick Senzel. They scored again in the ninth inning on a single from James Tibbs III, and then another two on a triple from Fitzgerald.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto started the game with a perfect first inning, adding two strikeouts. But after going back out for the second, Yamamoto did not have the same success.
He allowed a leadoff double to Jorge Soler before Teoscar Hernández dropped a fly ball to score a run and put Jo Addell on second. Logan O’Hoppe singled home the Angels’ second run, and then Christian Moore singled as well.
Yamamoto finished his outing with 1.2 innings pitched, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Yamamoto is scheduled to make one more start on Friday before heading off to join Team Japan for the World Baseball Classic.

The Dodgers resume Cactus League play on Sunday against the San Diego Padres at 12:05 p.m. PT. Jackson Ferris is scheduled to start against Randy Vasquez at Peoria Stadium.
