Spring Training Preview: Trevor Bauer Makes Dodgers Debut Against Rockies

After opening their Cactus League schedule with a road victory against the Oakland Athletics, the Los Angeles Dodgers return to Camelback Ranch to take on the Colorado Rockies for the first time this spring. The matchup was mutually agreed upon by both teams to be shortened to six innings.

Trevor Bauer makes his highly anticipated Dodgers debut and is expected to throw two innings. He will be followed by Tony Gonsolin, Kenley Jansen, Victor Gonzalez and Blake Treinen, all of whom figure to be significant contributors this season.

In 11 starts for the Cincinnati Reds last season, Bauer went 5-4 with a National League-best 1.73 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 73 innings pitched en route to Cy Young Award honors.

Bauer recently threw live batting practice for the first time in camp, facing the likes of Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager and Will Smith.

The Rockies counter with Dereck Rodriguez, who most recently pitched for the San Francisco Giants. The right-hander appeared in only two games last season, but logged a combined 217.1 innings for the organization the previous two years.

Rodriguez faces a Dodgers lineup that includes regulars Max Muncy, Justin Turner and Smith slotted at the top. Gavin Lux additionally bats leadoff, while Zach McKinstry and DJ Peters are back in the lineup for a second consecutive day.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts previously mentioned Peters would start in center field in each of the first two games.
