After opening their 2022 Cactus League schedule with tie against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers now face the Seattle Mariners at Peoria Stadium.
Ryan Pepiot, the Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect makes his 2022 debut and has a chance to showcase the arsenal that has him ranked on multiple lists. He will be followed by Michael Grove, Victor Gonzales, Yefry Ramirez and Darien Nuñez, in some order.
Pepiot posted a 3-4 record with a 2.87 ERA in 15 games (13 starts) with Double-A Tulsa last season before earning a promotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City. That proved to be a little difficult as he went 2-5 with a 7.13 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 11 appearances (nine starts) for OKC.
Pepiot previously was mentioned as a possible contributor for the Dodgers at the Major League level as early as last season, and that’s considered more of a likelihood in 2022.
The Mariners counter with right-hander Levi Stoudt, their No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Yohan Ramirez, Patrick Weigel, Kyle Bird and Danny Young are slated to also pitch against the Dodgers.
Former Dodger Steven Souza Jr. starts in right field for the Mariners after signing with them earlier this month. Souza’s deal was a Minor League contract.
The Mariners face a Dodgers lineup that has a few regulars getting the start for the second consecutive game. Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor are making second consecutive starts, while Edwin Ríos, Austin Barnes, James Outman and Jake Lamb are starting for the first time.
