Mookie Betts is still out one day after being scratched because of an upset stomach, but Chris Taylor returns to the Los Angeles Dodgers as they face the Colorado Rockies at Camelback Ranch. Saturday’s matchup is the last of Spring Training between the two National League West foes.
The Dodgers previously defeated the Rockies with a split-squad team that broke out for 11 runs in the fifth inning. L.A. cruised to a 14-2 victory in a game that saw Walker Buehler make his 2020 debut.
Now Taylor and a lineup that features regulars such as Gavin Lux, Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger, will look to provide run support for David Price. The southpaw is making his second Cactus League start and hopes to improve on what was a shaky outing his last time out.
Price admitted to feeling the effects of some nerves, but more importantly came out of the start healthy. That will be a focus throughout the year as the Dodgers rely on Price to help anchor the starting rotation.
Also on the health front, Taylor is playing for the first time since last Saturday. He’s been out due to a sore left shoulder and previously missed a stretch of games last week because of forearm and biceps irritation.
Taylor and the Dodgers face Ubaldo Jiménez, who is back with the Rockies after spending the past four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. Jiménez has appeared in two Cactus League games (one start) this year, allowing two runs on four hits.
Blake Treinen is expected to be among the relief pitchers to appear in Saturday’s game, which would mark his Dodgers debut.
