After a 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back on the road for their first and only matchup of the spring against the Colorado Rockies. The teams were schedule to play last Wednesday at Camelback Ranch, but the game was canceled due to inclement weather.
Tayler Scott is on the mound for his first start and seventh overall game of Spring Training. Evan Phillips, Caleb Ferguson, Alex Vesia, Victor González, Tyler Cyr and Adam Kolarek are also scheduled to pitch.
David Peralta is back in the Dodgers lineup two days after Venezuela was eliminated by Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
The Rockies start Gabriel Hughes, who they selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. The 21-year-old is making his first career Cactus League start.
Hughes played his college ball at Gonzaga and went 8-3 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 12.7 strikeouts per nine in 98 innings pitched across 15 starts as a senior.
Hughes made one start for the Rockies’ Single-A affiliate Fresno Grizzlies and allowed just one hit over three scoreless innings.
First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. PT, which is different from the originally listed time of 6:10 p.m.
Monday is the Dodgers’ second-to-last night game during Cactus League play. They’ll then be under the lights for the exhibition Freeway Series that leads into the start of the regular season.
And in a change from usual tradition, Opening Day at Dodger Stadium is going to be a night game as well.
