After an off day on Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers return to Camelback Ranch for their final Cactus League game against the San Francisco Giants. It marks the teams’ first and only Spring Training meeting this year.
Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for his final tuneup before the regular season. He allowed just one hit and collected three strikeouts over four scoreless innings in his last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kershaw incorporated his curveball more and again mixed in a changeup he’s experimented with for several years. In three overall starts this spring, the 34-year-old has posted a 3.52 ERA and 0.65 WHIP with seven strikeouts against two walks across 7.2 innings pitched.
With Walker Buehler starting against the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day, Kershaw’s next start could come in the second game at Coors Field on six days’ rest. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has not yet announced the rotation order behind Buehler.
Meanwhile, Craig Kimbrel is scheduled to make his Dodgers debut on Saturday, and Phil Bickford is due to take the mound for the first time this year. Evan Phillips, Garrett Cleavinger, Alex Vesia and Reyes Moronta are also Dodgers probables.
The Giants counter with Kervin Castro, who makes his first start and third overall appearance of the spring. He has yielded three hits in 2.2 scoreless innings thus far, striking out four batters and walking three.
