Spring Training rolls on as the Los Angeles Dodgers play host to the Kansas City Royals at Camelback Ranch on Friday night. Huyn-Jin Ryu gets the start, looking to continue what has been an excellent spring for him so far.

Ryu did not allow a run over his first two preseason starts, pitching three innings total. He has given up three hits and struck out three.

When he was healthy, Ryu enjoyed a solid 2018, recording a 1.97 ERA over 15 starts. However, he missed a large chunk of time in the middle of the season due to a groin injury.

Ryu shut down the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series but struggled over his next three postseason starts, which included Game 2 of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox.

He returned to the Dodgers before entering free agency by accepting their one year, $17.9 million qualifying offer in November.

The Royals are taking a split-squad into Friday night’s game. Arnaldo Hernandez gets the start for Kansas City against the Dodgers.

Hernandez has yet to pitch in the big leagues, though he did record a solid 3.55 ERA in 10 appearances at Triple-A Omaha last season. He has a 4.91 ERA and five strikeouts over 3.2 innings this spring.

Brad Miller, who the Dodgers recently signed to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training, gets his first start with his new teams as the designated hitter.

Among the Royals players making the trip to Camelback is Adalberto Mondesi, son of former Dodger Raul Mondesi. The older Mondesi was sentenced to eight years of prison time in 2017 for corruption charges stemming from when he was mayor of his hometown in the Dominican Republic.

The game is being broadcast on SportsNetLA, with Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser on the call and Alanna Rizzo handling sideline reporting duties.
