The Los Angeles Dodgers are the away team for their third spring matchup against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. The Dodgers are coming off a pair of losses in their split-squad action, while Chicago suffered a loss to the Cubs.
Andre Ethier starts in left field for the first time in nearly two weeks. After hip tightness/back spasms sidelined the veteran outfielder, Ethier returned to Cactus League action as a pinch-hitter in Friday’s loss to the Seattle Mariners. He’s 4-for-10 this spring with one home run, one RBI and six walks.
On the mound, Kenta Maeda squares off with Carson Fulmer. Maeda turned in his strongest start of the spring in his last outing. On Monday, he surrendered just one hit, a solo home run, in 3.2 innings while striking out seven. Maeda enters with 10 strikeouts in 7.2 innings thus far.
Fulmer, the White Sox first-rounder in 2015, made his MLB debut last season but pitched exclusively in relief and posted an ERA of 8.49. This spring, he’s pitched in four games, making three starts, and posted a 5.91 ERA. Fulmer allowed just one hit and had three strikeouts against the Dodgers in his first start this spring.
Adam Liberatore, Josh Fields and Chris Hatcher are among the relievers expected to receive action against the White Sox.
Rob Segedin is set for his first action since returning from the World Baseball Classic, starting at third base and batting seventh. Joc Pederson, who slugged a leadoff home run against the San Diego Padres, is again atop the order but as a designated hitter.
SportsNet LA will carry Saturday’s matchup, which is also being broadcast on AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio. First pitch at Camelback Ranch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT.
