Looking to bounce back from a pair of split-squad losses on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Oakland Athletics for the first of two Spring Training matchups in the final week of Cactus League play.
Making his fourth start Alex Wood, who looks to build off an excellent outing against the Cleveland Indians. The left-hander tossed four scoreless innings during the contest, allowing just two hits while striking out five batters.
For the spring, Wood has compiled a 2-0 record with a 4.91 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and nine strikeouts over 7.1 innings. He is expected to make one more tuneup start and will officially follow Clayton Kershaw in the Opening Day starting rotation to begin the regular season.
The Athletics send Kendall Graveman to the mound for his fifth Cactus League start. Graveman has struggled thus far, posting a 12.00 ERA and 2.22 WHIP across nine innings pitched. While the right-hander hasn’t yielded a home run, opposing batters are hitting .381 against him.
In Graveman’s last appearance against the Kansas City Royals, he allowed six baserunners and four earned runs in just three innings of work. It was the third consecutive game this month where Graveman gave up at least three runs in three innings or less.
Corey Seager is starting at shortstop in back-to-back games for the first time this spring. Meanwhile, Trayce Thompson, a potential trade candidate, receives a start in right field.
Justin Turner returns from the L.A. Marathon, where his Justin Turner Foundation was among the official charities, to play third base and assume his usual spot in the batting order.
