With the 2020 Major League Baseball season on an indefinite hold, SportsNet LA has taken to airing memorable Los Angeles Dodgers games, both from prior decades and more recent seasons, along with still producing an occasional studio show, among other programming.
Beginning Monday, SportsNet LA will re-air back-to-back broadcasts of memorable wins from last season as part of its “Dodgers Rewind 2019,” starting at 6 a.m. PT daily. The network additionally will showcase player-themed blocks of “Squeeze Play” every day.
This week’s Dodgers games that are condensed into one-hour shows focus on rookie highlights, Clayton Kershaw, Justin Turner, the team’s 12 walk-off wins, Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy and Walker Buehler.
Monday night will see the season premiere of “Backstage: Dodgers,” with the debut episode centering around rookie call-ups, Matt Beaty, Gavin Lux and Will Smith. Each of the three played a key role for the Dodgers last season and figure to do so again in 2020.
On Friday, April 10 at 8 p.m., “Dodgers Rewind 2019” will re-air 18-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks from March 30, 2019. Russell Martin memorably recorded the final three outs of the win at Dodger Stadium.
In doing so he became the first position player to close out the ninth inning of a win since left fielder Willie Smith did so for the Detroit Tigers in 1963. Moreover, Martin also became the first full-time position player to toss a 1-2-3 ninth inning of a win since at least 1925.
The SportsNet LA programming schedule also will feature “Timeless Dodgers” encore presentations of the best postseason games from the team’s improbable 1988 championship run that will air nightly throughout the week.
Spectrum Networks recently struck an agreement with AT&T to bring SportsNet LA to DirecTV, AT&T TV, U-verse TV and AT&T TV NOW customers in Southern California, Las Vegas and Hawaii.
